Discover why the police took our camera and made us delete all the photos of our homeschool outing today...

Today is the national day of prayer. So, innocently we went around the city praying for folks and showing the girls around. First we went to our church and prayed for a couple of the pastors. We visited a couple other places, then we stopped at our county jail. Spent some time praying there with our 3 kids on a grassy area next to a tangle of layered barbed wire fences and 50 foot high chain link.

Holly: Hey, lets take some pictures of the girls next to the jail!
Chad: Good idea! Girls go pick those dandelions over there! Hold up your flowers!
Abi and BethAnn: Yay! Yay!
(15 minutes of picture taking and festivities)

A voice behind me: Sir, excuse me sir, please hand over the camera...

2 patrol cars and a police van had pulled up and took our camera, deleted the pictures and warned us that this was a maximum security area and no one could take photos of it.

They were nice guys though, but seemed amazingly serious about a couple of hippie looking folks taking pictures by the jail.

Since it was the national day of prayer and all, of course we prayed for them. The mexican guy loved it... the white guy seemed serious but the girls melted his heart with their prayers, the african american guy stood at a distance and talked into his radio.

Incidentally it wasn't too hard to find pictures of the jail on the Internet, so I don't know what all the fuss is about.
