We walk by this laundromat regularly on the way to the post office and grocery store:

excerpt from article:

"Three teenage boys --two age 14 and another 15 --were wounded Monday afternoon in an apparent drive-by shooting outside a South Side laundromat, authorities said.

"They came to the door and yelled, 'I got shot, I got shot,' " said Rodriguez, 17. "We didn't know how to help them. I called an ambulance."

"Mike Gaffney, who owns the Quik Wash laundry at 47th and Loomis, was patching up a window pierced by a bullet from the shooting."

I didn't hear the shots yesterday, but I did hear a police helicopter which was flying around the neighborhood for around 40 minutes yesterday afternoon. I also wondered why there were so many cars driving down our street at the same time, but they must have closed off 47th street (a major through street) after the shooting because tons of traffic got rerouted past our house.

On a happier note, we took 3 or 4 families from the area to an apple orchard on saturday... first time any of them have been willing to leave the neighborhood with us on an outing like that.

Chaddo- One word for the family - Keflar. Seriously, am going to ramp up the prayer for safety in your neighborhood.

So, what did the families that went with you to Hobart think of their outing? It looked like it was a sunny day, great for roaming the backroads of Lake County. Of course, if they ate any of those donuts they probably considered the trip well worth the drive ...

yea thanks for praying. also, don't forget to pray for changed lives. usually when people come to Christ they stop shooting each other (hopefully).

the families who went with us loved it. it was a perfect day. we got our pumpkins to carve them, but right when the other families got home they cooked and ate their pumpkins. (friends of ours even eat the skin... there's some recipe for it I've got to get)

Pass on that recipe. There are actually lots of pumpkins down here just no fall atmosphere to go with them.
