Most scriptures talking about money and wealth seem to refer to building "treasure in heaven" or working for your "reward in heaven" or the "unfailing treasure in heaven."
What is this treasure? Is it degrees of glory? Is it a bigger mansion? More jewels in the crown? A place nearer the throne of God?
What does it mean to use your money wisely to make friends on this earth, that they may receive you into eternal dwellings?
Can you lose this reward? What exactly is it? What is so motivating and great about it? What does it mean to be "rich toward God?"
This heavenly reward, heavenly treasure, is consistently given as a motivator to give to the poor, not hoard wealth, be generous, invest in kingdom things, however, I am having trouble finding anyone who clearly explains exactly what this treasure is. Scripture instructs me to "store up treasure in heaven," to prepare for the future life somehow, but what exactly am I preparing?
Instead of spending all your energy building your assets to create wealth for yourself on earth, we are to build up heavenly assets, creating wealth for ourselves in heaven. But what is this heavenly wealth? What am I building? I need to know this, so it can motivate me to not be consumed with earthly wealth, but instead that I would be consumed with building heavenly wealth. I need to see its value or it is easy to get caught up on this earth. Show me Lord...
