apparently my sister in law has the west nile virus. my brother nate says it is not that big a deal, it is like the flu. it is amazing that the media has hyped this up like crazy making it out to be some sort of bubonic plague of the century. my neighbors were invited camping but refused to go for fear of getting the west nile virus. for pete's sake.

the CDC link above indicates that for most cases, the person infected has no or few symptoms, and the symptoms resemble the flu. the virus is gone in a few days and has no long term health effects. in some cases there are more severe diseases resulting from the virus, but overall it doesnt seem worth all the hype.
