Here is a good passage for us to consider as we approach the primaries. (You ARE going to vote, aren't you?) Jeremiah 5: notice that the judgement is coming upon them for what they DID NOT do, not for what they did:

thats why I don't vote based only on what they say, but based on their voting record. Even with that, they can sell out later, but that is as close as we can get.

but...... has God avenged himslef up until now upon the vast population of corrupted people of this or even worse countries? l.
what you believe about that depends on how you interpret history, and how you view old testament prophesy
here is what I believe: that scripture wasn't referring to any people that are currently on the earth, so in my mind it is more a revelation of the gravity of treatment of the poor in God's eyes. Whether or not God has avenged nations in the past in this way is impossible to determine by looking at history because how could we tell when it was judgement and when it was not?
